Outrage as Beloved South African DJ Killed in Johannesburg.
A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country struggling with persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was attacked in the central business district on a Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the forty-year-old entertainer was approached by three individuals, one of whom opened fire on him before running away.
The purpose of the shooting has not been established and no arrests are in custody, police said.
How It Happened
Law enforcement said that Stock was ambushed as he was departing from a building close to the city center landmark.
He had devoted time at the property overseeing the setup of security systems, which had been reportedly taken over by unidentified individuals, as per local media.
"Authorities believe the victim was approached by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they shot at him before fleeing the scene on foot," an official report confirmed.
Security camera video reportedly depicted a man with dreadlocked hair and wearing what appeared to be a protective services outfit firing shots on Stock before running away.
The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but fell down across the street.
Officials noted that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the assault.
Important clues, like bullet casings, were found at the scene.

Police have appealed eyewitnesses who may have witnessed the attack to come forward.
"Evidence suggests they walked a long distance after the attack, and officers have been tracking them to establish their whereabouts," stated a police chief.

His family member, a close relative, stated the family was struggling to process his death.
"Words fail me. I don't have words," were her words.
"Everyone understood he was a champion for numerous individuals. He was a fearless commentator about subjects not many people were willing to speak about. This is a tremendous loss."

In a communication, the channel he worked for affirmed Stock was known for his charisma, approachability and quick humor, adding that his legacy "will be remembered".
