Mohamed Salah Extends Statement to Liverpool Dressing Room, Discloses Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that the Egyptian forward expressed regret to the team after the fallout from his public comments.
The Incident
He was omitted from a European match subsequent to making accusations and suggesting his relationship with manager had deteriorated.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, please accept my apology.’”
Arne Slot has chosen not to disclose on whether he was apologised to from the 33-year-old forward.
Looking Ahead
The player stated that the team's response remained positive. “He was the exact same Mo, his demeanour was positive and we all treated him normally,” Jones added.
He also noted that a player's desire to start is a positive trait. “I get that there are certain ways you can handle situations,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just not start, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
On-Field Response
Their results have remained strong in the period after the initial controversy. The player is convinced the forward's comments were not designed to cause disruption.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it has consistently come from a good place,” the midfielder stated. “It's behind us and we’re uniting strongly, getting results and securing victories.”
