Jurgen Klopp says coming back to manage Liverpool is plausible in theory.

The German coach, who left Anfield in 2024, remarked that a future comeback is something that could happen. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure which brought continental glory and the Reds’ first league title since 1990, has since taken on roles in a global football capacity with the Red Bull group and as an advisor to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won the Premier League in the previous campaign, yet numerous supporters who revere Klopp would embrace the notion of his potential comeback. During an extensive chat, he told Steven Bartlett: “I stated I refuse to lead any other side on English soil. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...absolutely. It's plausible.”

“Being 58, that means the choice could be mine in a few years, who knows. Do I have to make the decision today? If so, I wouldn't return. But thank God, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe how things unfold.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

When asked about what circumstances would need to occur to tempt his return to management, he revealed he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he stated. “I don't crave being a coach; I don’t miss standing during downpours for lengthy sessions; No need for interviews repeatedly each week or constant media duties a week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room per se, but sitting in a restaurant with the players talking freely, is pleasant. We won a lot of games thus frequently a very good mood at the club. I can still hear Van Dijk's laughter vividly recalled to illustrate.”

Praise for His Successor

Klopp was full of praise for his successor, crediting him due to the changes that took the title in the previous season. Liverpool have lost four in a row in every contest following significant transfers, though he denied the idea of it representing the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words if you use the wrong words. An outstanding player. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. It’s a really good balanced team. You don’t have to worry regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of Diogo Jota, a 2020 acquisition during his tenure, and its impact for the team. The forward was killed in a vehicle collision alongside his brother in July.

“Who can fill the void of somebody like Diogo? It goes beyond his on-field talent, his personality mattered. It's hard to picture the dressing room absent his presence. Putting it into words is tough about it. It was an incredible shock for the entire squad as well. Not a single person would cite it for poor performances yet it's the reality. You walk in a dressing room where his spirit remains. Coping with it on a personal level is not easy. Unbearable.”
