Iranian Forces State Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is not yet known and the United States has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with notable success and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.
It said debris landed in a residential area in the capital, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
