Information Available Concerning the Fatalities of the Bondi Shooting
No fewer than 16 lives lost their lives and more than 40 were wounded when attackers fired on a Hanukah celebration at Bondi Beach, an attack local authorities have labeled a act of terrorism.
According to the most recent information, authorities have confirmed the death toll is 16, encompassing one of the alleged attackers. Additionally, 42 people with injuries were taken to the hospital.
The victims are yet to be publicly named, but authorities state their ages span from 10 and 87 years old.

Eli Schlanger
London-born rabbi Eli Schlanger, 41, was initially identified.
Described as a father of five children, he was the assistant rabbi at Chabad of Bondi. Family members and acquaintances remembered him as “lively, dynamic, and vibrant and a very warm outgoing person who was dedicated to assisting others”.
“How can a happy rabbi who went to a beach to share joy and positivity, to make the world a better place, have his life ended in this way?” a family member remarked.
Schlanger and his wife celebrated the birth of their youngest child in October.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman also lost his life, as stated by his wife.
She described the moments before the shooting, explaining they were standing when the shooting began. “He shielded me because he wished to be near me,” she said.
The pair were both survivors of the Holocaust, having endured immense hardship in their childhood. They had later immigrated to Australia from Eastern Europe.
Dan Elkayam
French foreign ministry have confirmed that French man Dan Elkayam is a casualty.
Officially, the Foreign Minister declared that France mourned with his family and loved ones, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This low act is a fresh and tragic example of a disgusting rise of antisemitic hatred that we must combat,” the statement read.
One Child
A 10-year-old girl who was taken to the a children's hospital is among those who had died, authorities stated.
One Israeli Citizen
A national of Israel was a fatality in the incident, according to reports referencing the Israeli government.
Those Injured
Of the 42 people transported to hospital, a significant number remain under care, with several in critical condition. Those hurt include two police officers who responded to the attack.
A casualty is a member of the public who attempted to intervene to tackle one of the gunmen. Described as a local hero, he received bullet wounds but is in stable condition in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
One of those wounded is Arsen Ostrovsky, a human rights lawyer. Sources state he was hurt and underwent treatment in hospital.
In a message, he described the incident as an “horrific scene,” but also praised the actions of those who came to assist. He said he felt it was a “miracle” he was alive.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a community director, was another casualty in the attack. He described he heard “dozens and dozens” of shots.
“Initially, I believed it was rubber bullets, but it’s gone into my own skin and into my leg,” he stated. “I’ve been shot myself. I received first aid. I’m ok.”
