The winter transfer window is always a period of intense rumour and possible big-money transfers. Several high-profile footballers are being linked with moves away from their current teams. Here is a look at some of the major figures who might be on the move in January.

A. Semenyo

Despite the Black Stars' failure to qualify for the AFCON, which has kept the player in contention, reports suggest an important move is imminent. The Bournemouth attacker has a deal with a substantial buy-out clause active for a two-week period at the start of the month. Latest developments point to Manchester City have emerged as his services. Other interested parties such as Tottenham and Chelsea reportedly have moved on to other targets, leaving teams such as Manchester United or Liverpool to attempt a late move.

M. Guéhi

This English defender has continued to impress for Crystal Palace this season a previous transfer to Liverpool collapsing. As his contract due to expire in the close season, January is the London club's final opportunity to secure a transfer fee for their captain. Numerous top clubs, including Manchester City and multiple continental powerhouses like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, reportedly be interested. Yet, a winter exit remains unlikely, especially given the coach's reliance on the player.

Brennan Johnson

The Wales winger has found first-team minutes hard to come by at Spurs this campaign. Although being the side's top scorer last season, he has begun just a handful of Premier League games. This Portugal playmaker could be set for a return to the Premier League following a spell in the Saudi Pro League. Still just twenty-eight, and with his contract expiring in the summer of 2026, he represents a potential opportunity. Clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester United are linked with the former Wolves man. Additionally, there have been rumours from Spanish media that he would be willing to take a reduced salary for a switch to the Spanish giants.

M. ter Stegen

The veteran German shot-stopper is now as the third option at Barça under new manager Hansi Flick. After lost his place and had surgery, a winter departure seems increasingly likely. Aston Villa were once linked as a potential destination, but that move now appears off. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly showing interest in the 33-year-old.

I. Toney

This prolific English centre-forward has kept finding the net frequently in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League could boost his dwindling chances of making the England World Cup. But, securing a deal poses significant challenges. His current club do not wish to sell him, and his reported huge weekly wages make any agreement difficult.
