Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Soldiers Table

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in power within the urban setting.

Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of heroes who will split off from the primary party to begin their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

First, the group knows exactly where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the narrative’s action—used the foes for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting the character, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.

Casimir then paid off his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their position as important members in the influential clan could assist the party reach locations they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The rogue and The character are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The target is marked for death by the family.

This results in them few options but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

From episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Questers and Strategists tables.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
